Privacy policy

Struxa Limited (NZBN 9429053434302) ("we", "us", "our") supplies gas struts and end fittings in New Zealand through struxamotion.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.

1. What we collect

You give us:

  • Name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address
  • Order details — the products you buy, sizes, quantities, order history
  • Vehicle details you enter — registration plate, make, model, year
  • Photos and part numbers you send us to identify a strut
  • Trade account details — business name, NZBN, and the trade references you supply
  • Anything you write in our contact form, emails or messages to us

Collected automatically:

  • IP address, device type, browser, operating system, and approximate location derived from your IP
  • Pages viewed, time on page, how you arrived, and what you clicked
  • What you enter into our vehicle finder, registration lookup and label scanner
  • Cookie and similar identifiers (section 5)

We never collect payment card numbers. Payments run through Shopify Payments and the other providers shown at checkout. Your card details go to them directly and we never see or store them.

2. Why we use it

  • To take, fulfil and deliver your order, and to handle returns and warranty claims
  • To identify the right strut for your vehicle
  • To answer your questions and provide support
  • To assess and manage trade account applications
  • To improve the site — including understanding which searches fail, so we can stock what people are actually looking for
  • To measure our advertising and show ads to people likely to be interested
  • To send marketing, only if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link in it, or by emailing us
  • To meet our legal obligations, including tax and consumer law

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it with:

  • Shopify — our store platform, which hosts the site and processes orders
  • Payment providers shown at checkout — to take payment
  • Couriers (NZ Post and Aramex) - name, address and phone number, to deliver your order
  • Google — Google Analytics and Google Ads, for site analytics and advertising measurement
  • Meta — Facebook and Instagram advertising measurement, where we run advertising on those platforms
  • Email and support tools we use to reply to you
  • Professional advisers — accountants and lawyers, where needed
  • Government agencies or courts — where the law requires it

4. Sending information overseas

Several of these providers store and process information outside New Zealand. Our store platform hosts data in the United States, and Google and Meta process data in the United States and elsewhere. Where we disclose your information to an overseas provider, we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that it is subject to safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020, usually through the contractual terms those providers offer.

By placing an order you acknowledge your information will be handled this way.

5. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep the site working — your cart, your session, security. These cannot be turned off without breaking the site.
  • Understand how the site is used — Google Analytics, so we can see which pages, searches and finder journeys work and which do not.
  • Measure and target advertising — Google Ads and Meta, so we can tell which ads lead to sales and reach people with similar interests.

When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or decline the analytics and advertising categories. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the site footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, though parts of the site may stop working.

We do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, as there is no agreed standard for them.

6. How long we keep it

  • Order and transaction records — 7 years, as required by New Zealand tax law
  • Trade account records — for as long as the account is active, then 7 years
  • Contact and support enquiries — 2 years from your last contact
  • Marketing lists — until you unsubscribe
  • Analytics and advertising data — as set in Google Analytics and by Meta’s own retention periods

After that we delete it, or anonymise it so you can no longer be identified.

7. Keeping it safe

The site runs over HTTPS. Access to customer information is limited to people who need it to do their job. Our platform and payment providers hold their own security certifications, including PCI DSS for card handling.

If we experience a privacy breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 2020.

8. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct it if it is wrong or incomplete
  • Withdraw consent to marketing at any time
  • Change your cookie choices from the footer link

Email info@struxamotion.com. We will respond within 20 working days, as the Act requires. We may need to verify who you are first.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner: privacy.org.nz, 0800 803 909.

9. Children

Our products are not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

10. Other sites

The site links to third-party sites, including courier tracking pages. We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. Changes are posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will be notified by email where we hold your address.
